We read with surprise that actress / singer Queen Latifah has been seen spotted in a lesbian club in New York City. What we find astonishing is not the fact that she attended (is somebody really that surprised?) but the fact that this story hit the news.

Besides that being seen in a gay bar does not necessarily imply what we are all thinking –it does help though-, what find fascinating is how the media decides over these issues. Thousands of closeted gay and lesbian celebrities go to bars to have some fun and nobody reports about it. But sometimes, for a strange reason, there are some famous exceptions.

The debate over whether to tell is not over: if some famous actor /actress go to, for examle, metal music bar or striptease club, wouldn’t everybody easily say it? Is it much different to attend a gay bar? if we want equality, why is there double standards with gay issues? and why are there double standards with some gays?

On the Queen, she neither denies it nor confirms it, she simply does not talk about it, even after insisting rumors that she is dating her trainer.
